nordstrom beauty savings event must-haves

Nordstrom – my favorite.

I’ll admit I’m not super good at sales. I’m not a planner when it comes to shopping. I’m definitely a “I’ll know it when I see it,” as well as an “I need this now,” kind of shopper, and so I don’t always do myself the favor of saving money during good sales.

Except right now. I do know that with spring comes the Nordstrom Beauty Savings Event, and it’s always my favorite time to re-stock my beauty essentials. The sale runs through March 15, and it’s a must (should I preface this by saying it’s not an earth-shattering sale at only 15% off?). Though it’s not a huge sale, the savings do add up.

I’ll also mention I am not a trendy beauty girlie. I buy what I love – and only what I love – and I don’t purchase trendy beauty items, nor do I change up my beauty or makeup routine (ever) other than changing color palettes for the seasons. So, when the spring sale arrives, and it’s time to replenish my beauty/makeup collection for the spring and summer, I go to Nordstrom for the Beauty Savings Event…because the savings are totally worth it when you’re buying beauty products.

That said, here’s what I bought yesterday, what it costs without the sale, and how much I saved shopping during the sale.

Skincare

Daytime Moisturizer – Clinique Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator Gel Moisturizer with Hyaluronic Acid (4.2 oz): $89 marked down to $75.65

This is the only skincare product I use that Nordstrom carries, so it’s the only one on the list. However, it does last a solid six months.

Makeup

Primer – Too Faced Hangover 3-in-1 Replenishing Primer & Setting Spray: $40 marked down to $34 (I do the bigger size for everyday wear and the small size to keep in my travel makeup bag so it meets TSA requirements when we fly). The larger size lasts approximately 3 months, as I only use it as a primer and not as a setting spray.

Contour – Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand (Fair): $44 marked down to $37.40

Highlighter – Charlotte Tilbury Glowgasm Beauty Wand Highlighter (Goldgasm): $44 marked down to $37.40

Foundation – Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Longwear Matte Foundation: $52 marked down to $44.20 (I get 10-12 weeks out of this as it’s very full coverage)

Blush – Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush: $43 marked down to $36.55 (this is actually my fall/winter blush in Pillow Talk Original)

Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Blush Beauty Wand: $44 marked down to $37.40

Lips – Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Lip Liner (Pillow Talk Original): $28 marked down to $23.80

MAC Cosmetics MACximal Silky Matte Lipstick (Multiple Colors): $25 marked down to $20

Eyes – Burberry Eye Quad Eyeshadow Palette: $65 marked down to $55.25

Too Faced Born This Way Mini Eyeshadow Palette: $29 marked down to $24.65

Fragrance – Yves Saint Laurent Libre Eau de Parfum: $225 marked down to $191.25

Hair – Bondi Boost HG Shampoo (and Conditioner): Both $34 marked down to $28.90

As you can see, the sale isn’t massive, but it does add up if you’re like me and only buy your beauty products once or twice a year. Since I don’t change my makeup/haircare/skincare routine and I have one signature fragrance (save for also occasionally wearing Jo Malone’s Cardamom and Mimosa perfume during the heat of summer daytime hours), I tend to buy all at once because it lasts so long.

If I bought it all when it’s not on sale, my total purchase price is: $796

With the 15% discount this week, I paid: $675.35

The savings aren’t massive, but I only purchase these items once a year, save for my foundation, shampoo and conditioner, primer, and moisturizer. These are lasting products, and they are also high-quality products that hold well all day long in the Florida heat, even if I’m by the beach or by my pool, which makes them entirely worthwhile.
