Friday nights during the holiday season are pure magic.
And there is nothing quite like getting dressed on a Friday night during the holiday season. The twinkling lights, the festive music, the candles burning, the general feeling that life is exponentially more glamorous during the holiday months. Suddenly, even an ordinary Friday feels like an occasion.
You know me. I’m a firm believer that every occasion requires the right look…and that the best occasions mean not even leaving the house. Yes, I’m a homebody. I love my home. I love being home, staying home, and not leaving home. I don’t like driving at night. I don’t like the general public. And I definitely do not like going anywhere that doesn’t require a reservation, have an appropriate wine and cocktail list, or that doesn’t have a dress code.
I appreciate a good outfit. I appreciate the finer things in life. And I will never pass up an opportunity to literally stay home. I do enjoy a girls night with my small group of girlfriends I love endlessly. I love a date night in a dimly lit restaurant with my husband. I also love Friday nights at home with my family. Date Night: A little extra, please
If there is ever a time to elan into a little glamour, it’s on date night. It’s the holiday season. The sun sets early, the lights are dim and twinkling, and the occasion is a little bit more special than it is the rest of the year. Think rich colors, a little sparkle, and something that doesn’t scream casual.

Girls Night: Because dressing up with your best friends is where it’s at
Girls night is elite every now and then…even I can be convinced to leave the house for a girls night with the people I love the most. A holiday girls night is actually one of my favorite excuses to get dressed up – in addition to having lively conversation and a good time with the girls. Catching up with my girlfriends, sharing all the appetizers on the menu, and a beautiful bottle of wine is my favorite.

Family Night In: My personal Friday night favorite
In our house, our favorite Friday night activity is to bid adieu to the week by welcoming it in our favorite loungewear – together. It’s early showers, my husband making his famous homemade pizzas, a fun dessert, and a family movie with our kids. This is our chance to unwind after a busy week of sports, school, pick-up and drop-off lines, practices, games, and matches, and it’s not easy to convince me to forgo a Friday night at home with my family.
