Rompers and Jumpsuits in the Caribbean

Happy Wednesday, loves!

It was The. Most. Fun. Weekend. It was all fun in the sun with our amazing people, and I’m exhausted to a point I can’t even describe. We spent the weekend with our four favorite couples on a Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas, and we laughed for four straight days. Oh, the memories!

I can only say that I am truly grateful that we have such an amazing tribe, and that in the decade we’ve been so close, we’ve done some of the most amazing things together, been to the most amazing places together, and created some of the most seriously amazing memories. Our kids have been best friends since birth, we’ve been all over the world together, and the dynamic is the best.

It’s not easy to plan a trip for five couples with a grand total of 12 kids between them. You have seven sets of grandparents who have the be available at the same time, on the same weekend, and it’s a lot of planning. But, shout out to those grandparents for taking the best care of our littles so we can make memories.

The first night of the cruise was the night I was finally able to wear one of my favorite purchases from last year, and I love it. My gorgeous friend Corinna and I have been planning our outfits for a while, and we wanted to grab a quick pic together before dinner in my romper and her jumpsuit – and we had a ton of compliments!

I want to take a moment to point out that you’re looking at mid-30s mamas with a total of seven kids between the two of us. We’ve both always been active and good about working out and eating well, but we made a commitment a few months ago – along with our husbands – to really focus on good health, building muscle and toning, and just live our best lives. And we, along with our husbands, have been killing it. I’m so proud of us.

{My outfits details: Lilly Pulitzer Tiki Wrap Romper (I bought it last year, and I cannot find it in this color anymore, but there is a new version of it in new colors I linked for you) Christian Louboutin So Kate Pumps, SugarFix by BaubleBar Earrings}

{Corinna’s outfit details: By&By Jumpsuit, similar shoes here and here}

It was a rompers and jumpsuits kind of night for us, and we both received a ton of compliments on our choices. I asked Corinna if I could share her outfits along with mine because of that, and she was totally fine with it. And I will never, ever look at this picture of us without visualizing knives, Tito, and BJ being a married man while dying of laughter. #insidejokes

Weekend Recap and IG Round-Up: The Best Dresses for The Season

Happy Tuesday, loves!

Well, it’s Monday my time – and I’m just sitting here on my deck living my very best life. The Florida sunshine is currently giving me all the happy feelings. It’s cool, breezy, and my back deck is shaded and perfect. I’ve moved out of mine and my husband’s office to sit out here today and work – and I’m thinking it’s been an amazing decision.

April was a crazy month (I say that every month), and May is ramping up to be just as crazy. I’m on the board of two PTAs, and next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (which means work, work, work), it’s the last month of school for the big girls, we have amazing trips the same weekend the next three months to pack for, field day at the twins’ school, PTA meetings, events, and things, last day of school stuff, cheer tryouts, dance recitals, gymnastics, tumbling, date nights, Mother’s Day to host – you name it, we’re doing it.

We planned on spending the weekend at Disney with the littles – because we don’t do Disney in the heat and crowds of the summer, so May is basically it before we skip out until September-ish with our passes – but they actually asked us if we could just not.

I know, right?

They’re tired. We’re tired. We had a fun Friday night with friends at a birthday pool party, and got home late, and the kids were overly tired. They didn’t have one normal night last week because of activities and such, and the late nights got to them (and us). So, we said of course to staying home. And we did. We spent all weekend having fun. The girls and I had a salon day Saturday morning while the boys took a golf cart ride and did boy stuff. And other than church on Sunday morning, all weekend was spent in our swimsuits. Our evenings were spent grilling and enjoying the cool breeze on our deck (this is the BEST time of year for that).

We even had movie night Saturday. The kids couldn’t agree on anything, so Craig and I made the executive decision to watch Beethoven, and they loved it – and now they all want a St. Bernard. Carter-man fell asleep on my lap during the first 5 minutes, and I cannot even begin to describe how sweet it was to spend an hour and-a-half cuddling with my littlest love, my sweet boy, before we carried the twins upstairs for bed when the movie was over. I needed all those sweet snuggles.

Life. Is. Good.

Now it’s back to the hectic weekly life we live, but we are all living it a little better this week because of that time. You guys – if you’re not taking time every so often to be low-key and hang with your kids, you’re so missing out. They’re a lot of fun. And it does wonders for your soul to just be still.

How was your weekend? We’re so excited about all that we have to look forward to in the next few months, but also enjoying the last month or so of pretty weather. Hot days with cool mornings and evenings. A month from now = death by humidity and heat.

I’ve rounded up a few of my most recent IG looks for you – some sold out or no longer available, but – always – something super similar and just as much fun to check out!

{ Dress (I bought it at Nordstrom last year, I think, but I can’t find it anymore so I’ve linked similar here, here, and here) Michael Kors wedges (old) similar here, here, and here, Ray-Ban Sunglasses, BaubleBar Earrings similar here and here }

I wore this fun dress to church Sunday. I love the color blue, and I had to wear it because both my boys were in blue. Sweet Carter asked me if I’d wear blue like him and Daddy, and there’s no saying no to that kind of sweet request!

{ Dress (I just found this at Marshalls a few weeks ago, and I can’t find the exact one online but I’ve linked some similar maxi dresses in the tee-shirt style here, here, and here) Tory Burch sandals (old, but I love these, these, and these) Hat (sold out at Nordstrom but similar here, here, and here) Louis Vuitton Neverfull GM }

I love this dress. I think I might be all about the tee shirt dress this summer – and for like $20, who isn’t?!

6

{ Lilly Pulizter Dress (I can’t find the same print online, but there are great ones here, here, and here) Tory Burch Millers, Ray-Ban Sunglasses, BaubleBar earrings similar here }

I think this Lilly Pulitzer dress is like 2 or 3 years old now? I can’t remember, but it goes down in history as my favorite LP of all time. Anyone who knows me knows this time of year at least 5 of 7 days of the week are spent in one form of Lilly Pulitzer or another, and I really just love all the prints. However, there is something about this simple stripe I just adore. I can’t find it online, but I still see it in stores regularly, so check it out!

Simple Tips for Shopping the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale

{The Marlowes: Short Sleeve and Boatneck}

You guys…it’s finally here. The Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale runs from Monday, August 28 until Wednesday, August 30th. Three days of one of my favorite sales of the year.

No – my absolute favorite sale of the year. With that I mind and only the weekend to prepare, I thought I’d share a few of my favorite tips….and a few of my favorite dresses you can get for next to nothing.

Anyone who knows me knows I have a closet filled with LP, and I’m not ashamed. I love it, it’s such good quality. It doesn’t matter how many times I wash things, they always look spectacular – and it’s always chic. I don’t know if y’all know this or not, but being a mother to four small kids is not an easy task. It means I have approximately half a second to think of me.

And LP is my go-to. The bold colors are flattering, and they hide dirty little fingerprints and stains that typically end up all over me if the kids have any say in life. The cuts are super flattering, the fit is always perfect, and how easy is it to get dressed in the morning when all you have to do is choose which dress to wear? A whole outfit in one place? Yes, please!

That said, it’s time you get to know how the sale works, what to do, and what advice I have after shopping the sales twice yearly.

{The Essie and the Amina – my two favorite dresses ever}

First – you can find LP on sale other times, but not through LP. I find dresses on sale all the time at Nordstrom, Dillards, and just about any LP-authorized boutique in any beach community. All. The. Time.

Second – you must know the rules.

Third – you must be ready ahead of time.

Here we go.

Know the Rules

Ladies – there are rules. Here they are.

  1. You can add all you want to your cart, but that does not reserve the item.
  2. You cannot log into the website until the sale opens at 8 am.
  3. You better be at your computer ready to login when 8 am rolls around.
  4. Expect to wait.
  5. Don’t panic.
  6. Check back regularly, because new styles are added throughout the sale.

02

I know you already have an LP account online, right? If you don’t, do this now. You need to have your address and other personal information already stored to save you time and provide you with a better chance of seeing the items in your cart still available when you check out. If you aren’t comfortable saving your credit card option, you can always check out with Paypal – which means you can pay with your bank account or debit card through Paypal on the LP site with the click of a button. It’s so easy, and it’s much safer.

4

Prepare to Wait

And don’t panic. Here’s the deal – sometimes I’ve waited over an hour – DO NOT REFRESH – to get into the sale on the first morning, and it’s totally fine. I’ve never had anything in my cart sell out before I can check out. Most everything is in my size by the time I get in, and it’s been a seamless process.

Even better, there are new styles added regularly throughout the three days the party lasts. This means what you love might not be on sale right away, but it might show up before the sale ends. There’s no need to panic – even if there is a long wait. I promise it goes by so much faster than you imagine.

01

What to Buy

Whatever you want. However, I would really use this opportunity to buy some of the more expensive items you’ve been eyeing. This allows you even more savings, but there is NO reason not to buy the inexpensive dresses, shorts, and tops for even less. Savings are savings, my friend. I also think the sale is a great time to purchase accessories, since no one wants to pay full price for accessories, right? I also love buying my kids’ stuff during the sale. They are huge LP fans – my oldest daughter only wants to wear LP half the time – and I love buying it at the sales since they grow so fast and it’s so not an investment piece for kids who can only wear these items for a short period.

fourth 1

You feel the anticipation, and that’s all right. But remember not to panic. You’ll get what you want. You’ll save money. You’ll shop more than once over the course of the sale…even if you make a serious promise to yourself that you will only shop once.

That’s a lie, and you don’t want to be a liar.

Happy shopping, friends! What do you have your eye on during this sale?

Friday, Friday, Friday…

What kind of plans do you have this weekend? Ours is – as usual – busy. One day we will have a weekend that entails doing absolutely nothing, and I’m going to love every second of that! It’s a fun-filled weekend, but I could really use some down time. Maybe next weekend…wait, no. Maybe the weekend after. But probably not.

Anyway, it’s Friday, and that’s a celebration day in our house because we don’t have to pack any lunches for anyone for two solid days! Trust me, four lunch boxes for four kids who all like different food – omg.

I’d love to say Fridays are relaxed days, but this time of year they’re not. That means rushing out the door every morning to take four kids to school, run errands, come back home and get into my office to catch up on deadlines and client requests, head to yoga, back to school to pick everyone up, and then it’s time to take the kids out for Friday Fun night.

And that means I have zero time to focus on what to wear…which is why I am completely, 100% obsessed with the Essie.

  • It’s sleeveless – perfect for the hot Florida weather
  • It’s a classic cut – flattering on all body types
  • It’s always chic
  • You can dress it up for Sunday Brunch or lunch with the girls or down for running errands with the family

Lilly Pulitzer knows how to make sure we busy ladies have a summer staple (and in Florida, it’s always summer) we can turn to when we have little time but need to look chic and put together. And, we all know that email is going to show up any time in the next week or two letting us know it’s time for the After Party Sale. Half-price LP? Sign me up!

If you need a chic staple that allows you to look pulled-together, stylish, and appropriate no matter what you’re doing, this versatile piece is worth the investment. And it’s only $98  – and you can’t beat a staple for under $100!

With so many colors and options to choose from, the biggest problem in your life is figuring out how to dress it up or down – but I’ve got you covered.

Casual: Sandals or espadrilles, fun earrings, and an oversized handbag

Chic: Wedges, simple jewelry, and a structured tote

Voila – you look amazing, and it took you all of 30 seconds.

Happy weekending, friends!

In Need of Last Minute Fourth of July Inspiration? Here Are My Fourth of July Favorites

Happy Birthday, America!

I don’t know about you guys, but I’m sitting here work, work, working away the day before the Fourth of July, and I have no complaints. The big girls are at a sleepover, the babies are at school, and I’m using this day as a chance to catch up, to work a little bit ahead in anticipation of our upcoming vacation, and to get organized. I needed this day!

It was such a fun weekend! To recap just a little, we spent Friday night low-key and casual at home. We had plans every night last week that kept us out late and meant late bedtimes for everyone, and we were mentally and physically drained.

Saturday was busy. We loaded the kids in my SUV and headed to Tampa for the morning. Some of our very best friends host an amazing Fourth of July party every year – I mean, guys, you should just understand they grace us with a PRO fireworks display without the hassle of joining thousands of people and crowds and parking problems, etc…it’s amazing – and I like the fam to match. Unfortunately, the dress I bought myself was the wrong size and I needed to head to Lilly Pulitzer to get the correct size, so it was a shopping day.

Saturday evening was so much fun. Our friends put on the best show. I literally cannot even express to you the amazingness of their show. The kids had a blast – and they wore us out. Twins are no joke, you guys. We did nothing all night but watch them in the pool, playing outside, and running after them as they used their energy and sapped ours completely!

Sunday was a day of rest and relaxation. We took the big girls to see Despicable Me 3 – which was beyond adorable. They’ve been so excited for so long. Of course, we’ve been excited about it, too. We really enjoy the franchise…I won’t even pretend we don’t.

Tomorrow we’re doing the low-key pool day thing with my in-laws. My father-in-law is in town for the week, and we’re headed to spend the day with his side of the fam so the kids can spend a little time with their grandfather – which they are SO excited about – but not before we have to run back to Tampa so I can take my favorite bracelet to Tiffany’s to have the clasp repaired. My wrist feels empty without it.

Today, though…it’s all about catch up, work ahead, get it together. I have a few new clients and contracts to deal with, and I need to get my calendar organized like you don’t even know.

In honor of tomorrow’s Independence Day, I wanted to share a few last minute Fourth of July ideas with you. I know some of you are still figuring out what to wear, what to make for your friends or parties, or even what to drink – so I’m sharing a few of my Fourth Favorites for your last-minute shopping list.

Last Minute Fourth of July Outfits

I fell instantly in love with the Star Struck print by Lilly Pulitzer and knew immediately it would be our Fourth of July print. I bought the girls these shorts and myself this dress for the Fourth and everyone loved it (my dress runs TTS and I’m wearing an XS. The girl’s shorts all run a little big, but they have pull tabs inside I was able to use to make them smaller)! My husband and our son sported Patriotic Under Armour I picked up at our local Dillards.

Fourth of July Cocktail Recipes

You can make this with or without the alcohol depending on your preferences, but I thought this was the most fun drink when I was looking up something light and fun to drink. I’m a sucker for a good sangria, and how much fun is this recipe I found online?

Fourth of July Decor

We don’t host a Fourth party in our house – we are Halloween party and Christmas party people over here. But, I did order these fun napkins from Crate and Barrel just because they are so adorable. And, really, I’m in love with anything they offer me.

I’m super excited about the Fourth and a laid back day of fun in the sun with the family! What are your plans for the Fourth?

3 Summer Staple Splurges for Every Mom on the Go Who Wants to Look and Feel Put Together and Stylish

Happy Tuesday, friends! We are fresh into the second full week of summer vacation, and boy are we struggling to grow accustomed to our new summer schedule. The twins will stay in in school all summer, but the girls are definitely making our jobs a challenge. I’ve been working from home their entire lives, but this is Craig’s first summer vacation as a work-from-home dad and he’s learning the struggle.

Camps, sleepovers, play dates, and finding time to work in between – oh my! He has set office hours at home, so it’s non-negotiable for him, but he’s definitely seeing how difficult it can be for me to rearrange my schedule so often to accommodate theirs sometimes!

I can only play so many rainy-day games of Uno or Go Fish or Candy Land or Monopoly, for real. Right now we are in our office working and listening to them across the house in the family room arguing over who is definitely going to draw the lollipop during their game of Candy Land (someone is definitely cheating).

While they’re actually leaving me alone entertained in the family room, I thought I’d share with you a couple of my favorite summer must-haves. It’s hot in Florida. We sweat a lot in Florida. It’s hot in Florida. I’m a 30-something mama of 4 who can’t function if I don’t feel put together, yet I can’t stand to be in the closet for more than 3.2 seconds on a weekday morning deciding what to wear.

That said, I have three summer favorites for your closet that might just be the answer to your every fashion problem – I’m a big believer in buying the classics and items that never really go out of style…I get it from my grandmother!

4

Lilly, Lilly and More Lilly

Yes, we Floridians and southerners are a little obsessed with Lilly Pulitzer, but it’s for several good reasons. Let me elaborate:

  1. It’s hot here and we sweat a lot, but you can’t tell when you’re in so many bold, beautiful patterned dresses.
  2. How do you not feel pretty in something fun and fabulous?
  3. They’re light and airy.
  4. They’re so stylish.
  5. They’re so easy to wear without spending too long deciding what to wear when you know you don’t have that kind of time.

I just love LP. I mean, honestly – I’m addicted. My go-to dress is the Essie. I have them all – I buy the new ones every time a new pattern or color is introduced. The gorgeous pink one will actually arrive tomorrow on my front doorstep and I can’t wait!

1

Tory Burch Sandals

With four kids, flats are my summer go-to. It’s so much easier when we have them, especially since so much of our time is spent at Disney World where walking is a way of life. The Miller Sandals are worth the price every single time – but there are so many other options that cost far less and still last forever. Also, I love some TB espadrilles, and my newest pair just so happens to be on sale RIGHT NOW so check it out if you’ve been coveting a pair of your own. I seriously get so many compliments on these every time I wear them.

IMG_8154

Cross-Body Bags

9 times out of 10 I’m carrying my Neverfull GM, but I do love a good crossbody during the summer. With four kids the Neverfull is a must most every day, but summer means being a little more carefree. When I’m not carrying the Neverfull, you’ll find me carrying one of my favorite cross body bags to keep my phone, my brightest pink lipstick, and my cash-money – kidding, I totally bring my husband along with so he can hold the $$ and the keys!

3

My TB cross body is from last year, and it’s out-of-stock, but there are so many adorable ones available right now at a variety of price points. I love this one, this one, and this one. My husband also surprised me with a gorgeous Prada crossbody that I’m in love with. It’s a little small – but perfect for date nights and Disney days. Mine is sold out now in most colors because it went on sale about a week ago – big time – but there’s still a red one available that I was able to find (MAJORLY marked down) and I also love this one, this one, and this one if you want to spend a little more on something that’ll last a lifetime.
